A Kickstarter Campaign for Parity

This is a prototype for my Media Design class. When Parity is ready for print, I may consider posting a very similar campaign.

Purpose

The purpose of this campaign is to raise money to print a minimum of 1,000 copies of my graphic novel, Parity. This book will be 200 pages, full color, and with perfect binding.

Overview

Having created and self-published several graphic novels and comic books in the past, I have grown to love this visual medium that can tell a story like no other.

This book, Parity, is a semi-autobiographical graphic novel inspired by fiendish addictions that have swept the world. Gaming technology is so advanced and immersive that it is more alluring than any drug, psychedelic, or drink. Aside from grogginess from the lack of sleep, there is no hangover, and much less regret. Usually. Immersive gaming has broken apart families and stunted the intellectual growth of family members close to me. And yet, I love it so much.

This story is not a cautionary tale, but instead it celebrates the inevitable. It asks the question: if you could give up everything – everything – to have your soul uploaded to a server, to live forever in the game you love so much, and leave this physical world forever; would you? No? But do you know someone who would?

This book also asks the question: What happens to these souls when the game is over?

The writing and drawings for the book have been completed. Post-production is underway. Funding will pay for the cost of digital coloring, publishing, and printing. The fund-raising goal is $5,000.

Benefits

Anyone who pledges $1 or more has earned my gratitude. Your support means everything to me and keeps me motivated to create more.

Anyone who pledges $5 or more will receive a digital copy of the book, and my eternal gratitude.

Anyone who pledges $10 or more will get all of the above plus a signed pencil sketch.

Anyone who pledges $25 or more will get all of the above plus a signed copy of the printed book!

Anyone who pledges $50 or more will get all of the above plus a signed and sketched copy of my last book, Fabricari: Full Assembly.

Anyone who pledges $100 or more will get all of the above, plus an inked drawing of a character of their choosing. This can be a drawing of you or kitten, even! No guarantee on your kitten’s resemblance. Oh, and you get your name printed in a special thank you page of the book.

Anyone who pledges $500 or more… seriously, you’re awesome. You get all of the above plus a cameo appearance in the book. I will draw you as a background character in the book!
